IAEA Director-General starts his visit

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A visit of the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano started Monday here. The visit is being paid at an invitation of S.Batbold, the Prime Minister of Mongolia.

In order to share views on the collaboration between Mongolia and the IAEA, Mr. Amano will hold meetings with S.Batbold, the Premier; G.Zandanshatar, the Foreign Minister; T.Badamjunai, the Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry; J.Tsolmon, the Vice Minister of Health; S.Enkhbat, head of the Nuclear Energy Agency of Mongolia; and with Kh.Bolormaa, the First Lady of Mongolia and leader of Mongolian National Foundation named “Hope Mongolia-Free of Cancer”.

Mr. Amano also plans to visit the National Center of Oncology; the Veterinary Service Institute and the Biological Central Laboratory and to get au fait with projects implemented in a scope of the IAEA. A lecture about a role of nuclear energy in the 21st century will be given by Mr. Amano to Mongolian scholars, researchers, teachers and students.

Main purposes of the visit are to share views on the Mongolia-IAEA cooperation and to determine its further goals. The IAEA’s Director will attend as well a regional seminar themed “Primary measures of preventing cancers and role of medical first service”.
